Autumn

It is very much Autumn in New Zealand. There is a crisp chill in the air, scented by fallen leaves and the smoke of wood-burning stoves. The peaks of the mountains are all dusted with snow, and people are constantly speculating about the next storm. The only thing missing is apple cider and pumpkin pie. There aren't a whole lot of deciduous trees around Queenstown, but the ones you do see are all bursting with color. A few days ago I saw a young mother and her two little kids playing in the leaves, rolling around and throwing handfuls of orangeness at each other's faces, it was pretty damn cute.
