Injured!
Snowboard bums who ride hard know they're going to sustain injuries. It's pretty much inevitable. The best you can do is to take calculated risks, and hope that your falls and collisions don't prevent you from getting back out on the slopes. Four days ago I was snowboarding at the Remarkables when I took a nasty fall. I had tried to boardslide a wooden log in the new terrain park, and metal edges have a tendency to dig into wood. I fell from a height of about ten feet whilst traveling forward at ~15mph. Stick those digits into a physics equation, and you'll see that I landed with a fair bit of force onto my right arm. The initial prognosis from the ski resort doctor was "torn rotator cuff", which was later confirmed by a physical therapist. I cannot lift my arm much higher than 3 inches, and attempting such movements is very painful. Luckily for me, New Zealand provides free healthcare for accident victims. It doesn't matter where you're from, and you don't need insurance! Consequently I have been going to PT sessions to get back on the road to recovery. I go through a routine of exercises, and the physio uses some fancy machines to help fix my muscles; one shoots low-frequency electro-magnetic radiation, and the other zaps impulses between electrodes taped to 4 spots on my shoulder. Thank you New Zealand and ACC for taking care of me.

Don't keep hurting yourself - DADDOOO
Damn. Sounds like a nasty fall. Get better and use up that free health care...
oh dustin. sounds like you'll be catching up on some more good books (rec: god of small things) and watching lots o' movies. take of yourself.
dont be such a p*ssy. you dont use your shoulder to snowboard. you ride like a girl any way. i am totally kidding. that is awful. shoulders are the devil. i am letting you know this cannot affect your 2008-2009 season. i have put too much time and effort into snowboarding with you to have to shoot you dead. just like seabiscuit, or that boy that shot old yeller or the whoever killed the red setters in where the red fern grows. what i am trying to say is use up all of the possible healthcare dollars you can and come back ready to schralp because luckily for you it is winter all the time at the moment. take care of the wing

Maybe you shouldn't be riding on broken snowboards? Or maybe your board was trying to tell you something when it broke last week (?).
Feel better soon, Zorak.
